RECENT GREEN NEWS

On April 25, as part of our commitment to Partnership for a Sustainable Georgia, we participated in an electronics recycling event at Decatur High School in conjunction with the City of Decatur Public Works.

It was an amazing experience! People lined up in their cars ahead of the 9:00 AM start time. In just four hours, with a great group of Decatur High student volunteers, we collected a total of five tractor trailer loads (35.53 TONS) of electronics - including computers, TVs and batteries - that would otherwise have gone to our local landfills.

Almost all electronic equipment and batteries contain elements that are considered hazardous to human and animal life. This successful annual event was just one of many occurring all over the state and the country during Earth Week 2009.
